SPIRIT TRAILS TRENTON IN FIRST-ROUND SERIES

The Stouffville Spirit trail the Trenton Golden Hawks 2-0 in their best-of-seven Ontario Junior Hockey League playoff series.

The first-round series resumes Tuesday night in Trenton. 

Game 4 Goes Thursday at the Stouffville Arena. Both games are 7:30 starts.

Trenton, the top seed in the East, won the first game 4-2 in Trenton Friday. Trenton scored the final two goals, including an empty-netter with 42 seconds remaining in regulation time.

Tayjon Street and Zack Corte scored for the Spirit, assisted by Odaro Ewere, David Paglia, Charlie Vanhaverbeke and Julian Demiglio.

Kyle Downey made 38 saves in the Stouffville goal.

Attendance was 720.

In Stouffville Sunday afternoon, Trenton scored the game’s first three goals and its last three and won 6-2.

Andoni Fimis and Evan Breckles had the Spirit goals. Peter Kioussis, Nathan Twohey, Riley Clark and Cam Kosurko assisted.

Downey and Stephen Toltl shared netminding duties.

Attendance was 441.
