VISITATION, MASS ARRANGEMENTS FOR MIKE ROBINSON ANNOUNCED

Funeral and visitation arrangements for Mike Robinson have been announced by his family,

Visitation will be held Oct, 1 from 2 to 8 p.m. and Oct. 2 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thornton Cemetery and Funeral Centre, 1200 Thornton Road North in Oshawa. Mass will follow the Oct. 2 visitation. 

The Stouffville Spirit alumnus and Stouffville native passed away on Wednesday in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin.

A new father, Robinson, 32, hit his first-ever hole-in-one Sheboygan Falls earlier that day. The community of about 8,000 is located near the west side of Lake Michigan.

Robinson, who worked in the golf industry, was on a golf trip in Wisconsin. Police said he died after succumbing to injuries from a gunshot wound despite life-saving efforts from first responders. A Wisconsin man, 35, has been charged with first-degree reckless homicide in Robinson’s death.

Robinson became a father to a baby girl in August.

The popular forward helped his hometown Spirit win the OJHL championship in 2012 before playing a season and a half with the Niagara IceDogs of the Ontario Hockey League. He returned to the OJHL to complete his junior career with the Wellington Dukes in 2014.

The Robinson family billetted Spirit players while Mike was playing minor hockey in the Stouffville area during the early 2000s. His parents were deeply involved in youth hockey, from coaching to working in the boardroom of the local association.

Mike attended local schools, including St. Mark and St. Brother Andre.
