The Stouffville Spirit (4-1-0-0) are riding high.
After a dominant week that included victories over Newmarket (4-3) Thursday and Trenton (8-5) on Saturday, the Spirit return to the ice Thursday night looking to extend their winning streak to five straight games. Standing in their way: the Mississauga Chargers, who visit the Stouffville Arena for an Ontario Junior Hockey League showdown at 7:30 p.m.
Christian Armstrong continues to lead the way offensively. In four games since joining the Spirit from the Oakville Blades, the Mississauga resident has 13 points (5 goals/8 assists) in four games. That includes three goals and three assists in Saturday’s 8–5 win at home over Trenton.
For his efforts, Armstrong was named Second Star of the week by the 24-team OJHL.
Captain Griffen Boyle and rookie forward Cale Williams are tied for second in Spirit scoring with six points each.
Newly acquired Logan Bennett is expected to be in the lineup tonight. The Oshawa product was acquired from the Trenton Golden Hawks in exchange for a Player Development Fee this week.
