Spirit home to Newmarket tonight, Trenton Saturday
Christian Armstrong didn’t take long to acclimatize to life with the Stouffville Spirit.
The 18-year-old forward from Mississauga accumulated six points in his first two games in the black, red and white since being obtained in a three-team Ontario Junior Hockey League trade on Sept. 16.
That included two goals and three assists in the Spirit’s 6-3 win in Trenton on Friday.
“Honestly, it felt like I got going really quickly,” he said. “I appreciate all the support everyone has given me so far. It was just super easy to get into the lineup, help the team out and get a couple of wins.”
Armstrong credits his linemates, saying he “jelled really quickly” with first-year Spirit players Rocco Williams and Xavier Rowe.
“We’re really excited to have Christian join our group,” said Spirit Head Coach TJ Hill. “He brings a lot of ability and competitiveness, and he’s fitting in very well so far. We are looking forward to seeing what he can do.”
Armstrong played for the Oakville Blades and Wellington Dukes in the OJHL last season.
Clarence Allain, Cale Williams, Cooper Bonnyman and Justin Sekulovski had the other Spirit goals in Trenton. Calem Yorke picked up the win.

Rookie forward Ronan Quinn is seeing lots of ice and highway time during his first month of junior hockey. The Stouffville product has played in two of the Spirit’s first three games. He also played in a pair of Ontario Hockey League wins for the Sudbury Wolves last weekend, Friday in Sudbury and Saturday in Barrie. The big 16-year-old was a third-round pick of the Wolves from the Markham Majors in this year’s OHL draft.

COMMUNITY
All Spirit players volunteered at the Terry Fox Run in Stouffville on Sunday. The event drew 1,000 participants and raised $100,000 for cancer research.
