The Stouffville Spirit drops the puck on the home portion of its 2023-24 Ontario Junior Hockey League season tonight.

The Spirit opened the regular season with a 4-3 win over the Aurora Tigers in Aurora last night. Second-year forward Zac Corte, fresh from training camp with the Soo Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League, scored two goals.

Captain Odaro Ewere had a goal and two assists. Linemate Peter Kioussis scored the other goal.

Netminder Matteo Gennaro earned the win. The Spirit were outshot 26-20.

The same two teams meet again in Stouffville tonight. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. at the Stouffville Arena on the Ninth Line.

A limited number of free tickets – courtesy of Farmer Jack’s – will also be given out at the Stouffville Market in downtown Stouffville today.

Stouffville’s own Muffin Men Band will perform a pre-game concert outside the arena beginning at 6:45 p.m. Lead singer Emiliano Zavala will sing the national anthem.

The Lions Club of Stouffville will welcome kids to their craft table in the arena lobby.

Proceeds from 50/50 draws at all three Spirit home games during September will go to the Stouffville Terry Fox Run.

The Spirit is returning several key members from the team that reached the OJHL playoffs last spring. The Spirit also acquired a mix of veteran junior players and highly-touted rookies during the offseason.
