SPIRIT PLAYERS MOURNING LOSS OF BELOVED BUS DRIVER

Stouffville Spirit players are skating in this year’s Ontario Junior Hockey League playoffs with heavy hearts and a new sticker on their red helmets.

Popular Spirit bus driver Peter Reddy passed away Tuesday due to complications from an automobile accident.

Players are playing for their buddy Pete by wearing ‘PETE’ helmet stickers this weekend.

“Pete was such a great guy and the only bus driver our players have ever known,” said Spirit general manager and governor Kenny Burrows. “It’s been a tough week for our young team.”

Reddy, 63, lived in Lindsay and drove for Foley Bus Lines in Madoc. He had driven buses for the past 28 years.

The Spirit trails Collingwood 1-0 in their first-round series. Game 2 goes Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Stouffville Arena.
