The Stouffville Spirit have acquired point producer Clarence Allain from the Caledon Admirals of the Ontario Junior Hockey League in a three-team deal, the Spirit announced today.
The Spirit sent Jonah Gareau, who they acquired from the French River Rapids of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League, and a player development fee to Caledon in exchange for Allain.
A forward, Allain had seasons of 50 points (15 goals/35 assists) last year and 40 points (10 goals/30 assists) in 2024-25 with Caledon.
The 18-year-old from Vaughan also played two games with the Ottawa 67’s during his rookie season. Ottawa drafted Allain from the Vaughan Kings in the seventh round of the 2024 Ontario Hockey League U16 Priority Selection.
“We’re really excited to bring Clarence into our group,” said Spirit Head Scout Greg Buchanan. “Our staff has followed him closely and we feel we have a really good understanding of his game and his development.
“With some of our guys moving on to higher levels and college, we knew we had some offense to replace, and Clarence gives us league experience and proven production at a very good pace for his age. He’s smart, competitive and can make plays, and we think he’ll be another guy we can lean on offensively.
“We believe he’s going to be a big addition to our program and a really exciting player for our fans to watch night in and night out.”
Allain was selected to play in the OJHL’s Zach Hyman Prospects Series last season.
Allain won GTHL championships with Vaughan in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
The Spirit will open its main training camp at the Stouffville Arena on Monday, Aug. 17. It hosts preseason games Aug. 22 (St. Michael’s Buzzers) and Sept. 2 (Toronto Patriots).
The Spirit opens its regular season schedule at home to the Markham Royals on Sept. 10.
