Joey O’Callaghan, 22, grew up in nearby Markham.

“I look forward to working with the Spirit this season,” he said, “providing quick fixes, high-quality skate sharpenings and anywhere else the team might need me. The goal is to always make sure players and staff can be at their best.”
The Spirit opens the Ontario Junior Hockey League regular season today at North York. The home opener is on Thursday, Sept. 12, vs Aurora at the Stouffville Arena.
