SPIRIT ACQUIRES CHRISTIAN ARMSTRONG IN THREE-TEAM DEAL

The Stouffville Spirit has acquired second-year forward Christian Armstrong in a three–team Ontario Junior Hockey League trade, the Spirit announced today.

The Spirit received Armstrong and a player development fee (PDF) from the King Rebellion. The Oakville Blades earlier sent Armstrong to King for a PDF. The Spirit completed the deal by trading Riley Clark to King.

Armstrong, 18, is a Toronto resident who accumulated 24 points last season between Oakville and the OJHL’s Wellington Dukes.

The right winger was a fourth-round pick of the Barrie Colts in the 2024 Ontario Hockey League draft from the Oakville Rangers U16 team.

“Christian is a player who really stood out to me at his OHL camp in Barrie this month,” said Spirit Assistant General Manager Greg Buchanan. “He checked a lot of boxes for us with the way he plays the game. He’s a skilled, competitive player who plays with pace, uses his size well and has a real edge and nastiness to his game. He wins a lot of puck battles, defends hard and scores a lot of his goals in the tough areas, within 10 to 15 feet of the net.

“We feel there’s another level to his offensive game, and his skill, toughness and compete will fit exactly with the identity of the Stouffville Spirit and how we want to play. We’re really excited about the opportunity to acquire Christian here in Stouffville.”

The Spirit hosts the Toronto Patriots on Thursday night at the Stouffville Arena.

They travel to Trenton Friday for their first away game of the season.
