RILEY POPE VOTED OJHL EAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE MONTH  

February 5, 2025, Mississauga, Ontario – The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) announced today that Riley Pope of the Stouffville Spirit has been named its East Conference Player-of-the-Month for January after he tallied 17 points during nine games. His 11 goals tied Luke Johnston of the Milton Menace for tops amongst all 500-pus players in the OJHL during the month. 

Pope ended January with a flourish, scoring seven goals in the Spirit’s final two games – including game-winners in double overtime both nights, Jan. 30 at home to Wellington and Jan. 31 in Pickering. The Humber College student’s 27 goals this season include five game-winners, four on the Stouffville power play and two shorthanded.

In his third season with the Spirit, the 20-year-old from Bolton began his OJHL career playing 10 games with the St. Michael’s Buzzers as an Affiliate Player from the Toronto Jr. Canadiens U18 team.

David Fournier of the Trenton Golden Hawks was runner-up to Pope as the East Conference Player of the Month in the vote of OJHL general managers. The Blainville, Quebec, native had nine goals and 11 assists in 10 games for a league-high 20 points during January. His largest outings were four-point games against Aurora (Jan. 11) and North York (Jan. 14).

Fournier leads the OJHL in points (80) this season, three more than Colton Smith of the Leamington Flyers.
