LAST-MINUTE LOSS ENDS SPIRIT SEASON

The Stouffville Spirit’s 2025-26 season ended in heartbreak in Pickering this afternoon.

Leading 2-0 in the third period, the Spirit gave up four goals to fall 4-2.

They lost the Ontario Junior Hockey League East Conference semifinal series by the same 4-2 count.

Pickering advances to play the winner of the Newmarket-Trenton series to see who advances to the 2026 league championship series.

Nathan Windle and Jacob Martineau scored for the Spirit.

Pickering tied the score before scoring what proved to be the winning goal with 32 seconds remaining in regulation. They added an empty-netter three seconds later.
