Former Stouffville Spirit defenceman Trevor Carrick has been selected to play in the American Hockey League’s 2025 AHL All-Star Classic.
The 2025 AHL All-Star Classic – which includes the All-Star Skills Competition on Feb. 2 and the All-Star Challenge on Feb. 3 – will be held in Palm Desert, Calif.
This marks the third time that Carrick has been named an AHL All Star, with the other two instances coming during his first stint with Charlotte – 2015-16 and 2018-19.
The Stouffville native played for his hometown Spirit during the 2010-11 season. A fourth-round pick of the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2012 NHL draft, Carrick has seen time in the NHL with the Hurricanes and San Jose Sharks.

He is one of eight Spirit graduates to play in the NHL. His brother, Sam, is a forward with the New York Rangers. Another brother, Josh, played for the Spirit in 2012-13.
The 30-year-old blueliner leads the AHL in power-play assists and points and leads league defensemen in points. He is also tied for the league lead among defensemen in assists and power-play goals.
